I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2001 in South Africa, majoring in General Nursing, Primary Health Care, Midwifery and Mental Health. During my studies I developed an interest in brain injury, and assisted in rehabilitation therapy programmes. When in the UK I nursed in many different disciplines and hospitals until I began working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery where I worked as a Staff Nurse in the Acute Brain Injury Unit and Neurosurgical ward.
Since starting work at Head First in 2006 I have enjoyed supporting my clients and their families, as well as providing training to support workers, overseeing our online support worker recording systems and collaborating on Head First’s research projects and conferences. I have a keen interest in creating an awareness of the often-overlooked sequelae of brain injury, as well as continuing to expand my own knowledge in this area.
