I qualified as a registered nurse in 1984 and worked in the accident and emergency department in my local general hospital before moving to work in Saudi Arabia at a military air base. I moved back to the UK in 1986 where I continued to work in a variety of settings within the NHS before moving into the private sector in 1993.
My interest in brain injury began in 1997 when I started managing a brain injury rehabilitation centre, where I worked until 2004.
Since joining Head First in 2004 I have been able to continue to develop my knowledge and skills while supporting clients and their families to cope with the issues they face following brain injury. Within the Case Management role, I am responsible for co-ordinating and reviewing my clients’ rehabilitation with the support of a multi-disciplinary team and help support them to lead their lives in the best way possible for them. The role also includes recruitment and supervision of support workers.
