ABI Training Day

This course is designed for delegates from any care sector including Support Workers, Case Managers, Supervisors and Legal Representatives with little or no experience in Acquired Brain Imjury (ABI). It is also suitable for anyone with a personal interest in ABI, who would like to develop a better understanding of this silent epidemic. 

Our expert-led training sessions are designed to facilitate discussion and interaction, and the course aims to fulfil the following learning outcomes:

Participants will be able to:

  • describe and recognise aspects of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and some of the differences it can make
  • gain an appreciation of what drives behaviour, and to recognise common misinterpretations of motive 
  • appreciate the pitfalls of preformed opinions and recognise some of our own
  • identify who is affected by an individual’s ABI
  • identify who can help individuals with ABI and their families
  • understand a broad outline of rehabilitation and the recovery process
  • appreciate how functional ability fluctuates and factors that affect this
  • describe and understand some of the impact of ABI on personality, behaviour and relationships
  • broadly understand the litigation process and have an awareness of its impact and functions, eg sources of funding
  • identify qualities of a good Support Worker


Course Details

The duration of the course is 7 hours, including an hour for lunch and two additional short breaks. 

Delivered via Zoom, the course is interactive, with a varied content including videos and small group exercises. Groups sizes are set to an optimum size to facilitate discussion.

To participate and benefit fully, this training should be completed using a computer or similar large screen, in a quiet and properly lit location. It is not suitable for completion on a smart phone or tablet

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance for their participation in the training. 

Course cost:

Standard rate = £150 (+VAT)
Charity rate = £125 (+VAT)
