Jacky qualified as an RGN in 1982 and since 1997 she has worked solely with people with acquired brain injuries. She worked as the Manager, responsible only to the board of directors, and was instrumental in establishing a 21 bed Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit providing appropriate multidisciplinary services in order to meet the assessed needs of the current and future clients. Jacky obtained suitable therapists, set up procedures and developed the unit which at the time of leaving had 40 beds. Jacky held her own budget and provided management and support for approximately 70 staff. She was responsible for producing policies and procedures for the unit, employing staff and developing staff training and induction. Jacky also developed independent living facilities for clients who were ready to move out of the unit. These had their own support team to enable the clients to access the community and live more independently. The unit had also acquired two further properties for development during the time of Jacky's employment.
Jacky left the unit in 2004 and commenced work with Head First as a Clinical Brain Injury Case Manager on 11th October 2004.
