Gill qualified as a Social Worker 1994. At that time she was manager of a residential home for 48 adults. Gill's role was to provide 24-hour care for vulnerable, frail adults. She assessed the needs of clients and worked to provide the appropriate services to meet the assessed needs.
In 1997 Gill became a Social Worker, working firstly in Worthing Hospital and later in the local community. It was during this time that she first started to work with people who had sustained a brain injury. Gill became involved in a pilot project in West Sussex to provide community rehabilitation, specifically for brain-injured adults. She liaised with many other professionals who were all concerned by the lack of appropriate services and later became Day Services Co-ordinator for People with an Acquired Brain Injury in West Sussex, working with 3 separate projects and assisting to develop a fourth.
Working with clients, families, friends and other professionals enabled Gill to develop her own experiences and to learn more about the effects of brain injury for clients and those caring for brain injured individuals. Gill was also able to develop a wider knowledge of available services and those involved in providing services and care for people with a brain injury.
Gill began her post as a Clinical Brain Injury Case Manager with Head First (Assessment and Case Management) Ltd in May 2002. She is a Practitioner member of BABICM and currently provide Case Management Services to brain injured clients, their families, friends and support workers.
